Best Solo Class in WoW Forever (Launch Week Forecast)
Affliction Warlock leads an early solo forecast. Compare its strengths with Protection Paladin, Beast Mastery Hunter and Frost Mage.
Affliction Warlock is the best solo class in WoW Forever according to the WoW Forever DB Solo PvE tier list dated 3 November 2026, an early forecast. Protection Paladin, Beast Mastery Hunter and Frost Mage are alternatives for players who prefer pack survival, a tanking pet or caster control.
What the solo rating measures
The list considers open-world farming, pulls with several enemies, elites, rares and group quests, survival and escape, solo instance farming, and self-sufficiency. It assumes quest and dungeon blues, with no raid gear. That makes the question broader than which class can produce the most damage.
Use those criteria to decide which recommendation matters to you. A player interested in packs may prefer a different set of strengths from someone who wants an escape option. The overall rating combines those needs, so the top choice does not have to be your choice.
Why Affliction Warlock leads
Affliction combines damage over time with ways to recover health and mana. Its damage keeps ticking without anything needing to hit the Warlock. Life Tap turns health into mana, while Drain Life and Siphon Life refill health. The forecast values that combination for self-sufficiency.
The Voidwalker can hold one enemy while Fear removes another from the fight. Howl of Terror helps with pulls, and the Warlock makes its own Healthstones and Soulstone. These are the reasons behind the solo recommendation, rather than a damage simulation alone.
There are limits. Affliction has Soul Shards to manage and wears cloth armor. Its solo dungeon clears were untested before launch, and the forecast cannot replace experience above level 30. Choose it for that collection of tools, with those uncertainties in mind.
Which option fits you?
- Affliction Warlock: choose it for damage over time, health and mana recovery, and several tools for managing a pull. The early forecast puts it in S tier.
- Protection Paladin: choose it for safety against packs and self-healing. The early forecast places it in A tier, close to the tier above.
- Beast Mastery Hunter: choose it if you want a Bear or Turtle to tank and Feign Death to reset a bad pull. The early forecast puts it in A tier.
- Frost Mage: choose it for caster control, Ice Barrier and Ice Block. It makes its own food, water and gems, but drinks often. The early forecast puts it in A tier.
Protection Paladin has Consecration hitting four enemies, Templar’s Bulwark, Holy Shield, self-heals and Lay on Hands. Its damage is low, mana limits repeated Consecration use, and it lacks an interrupt or slow. In this forecast it is the only specialization scoring 4 out of 5 for solo old-dungeon farming.
A Beast Mastery pet inherits the Hunter’s stamina, armor and crit. Traps work in combat, but the Hunter has no interrupt and must manage ammo, pet food and mana. Frost has the most control of any caster in this forecast, although Blizzard weakened the Blizzard and Cone of Cold slows to stop area kiting.
The Warlock pet change on 2 November
The 2 November development notes reduced pet health gained from the master’s Stamina to 2 Health per point, down from 7.5. This changes only the bonus from the master’s Stamina. Pets keep their own stats.
Nobody had farmed with that change before launch. WoW Forever DB moved Demonology from S to A after the notes. That is another reason to treat the launch-week Warlock recommendations as early forecasts rather than settled results.
Damage simulations answer a different question
BrokenMeta’s level 60 DPS simulation list, updated 4 November 2026 for build 1.60.1.70753, forecasts Affliction at the top with 907 simulated DPS. The simulation reference in expcarry’s WoW Forever class tier list, accessed 5 November 2026, instead puts Survival Hunter first. These are early forecasts beyond the beta’s level 30 limit, and they disagree.
Neither damage result is a solo rating. A solo recommendation also needs to consider survival, escape, recovery and self-sufficiency. Use the solo list for those questions rather than choosing a class from a simulated damage number.
Which specializations struggle solo?
The 3 November WoW Forever DB early solo forecast puts Fury Warrior, Arms Warrior and Restoration Shaman in D tier. They also have the weakest same-level elite score, at 2. Affliction Warlock, Protection Paladin and Discipline Priest score 5 for that particular task. Treat those scores as predictions for a specific activity, not a reason to ignore what you enjoy.
