WoW Forever Enchanting Guide: Disenchanting and Gold

Learn what Enchanting adds in Forever, where to disenchant, the beta material table, and why early gold forecasts favor other professions.

Updated 5 November 2026 · Checked against build 1.60.1.70790 on 5 Nov 2026

Disenchanting table is from beta; gold ratings are forecasts.

Enchanting in WoW Forever makes permanent weapon and armor enchants, wands, rods and oils, and lets you disenchant gear. This WoW Forever enchanting guide also covers its new camp items and crafting additions, while keeping unconfirmed gear restrictions and the beta disenchanting table clearly marked.

What is new in Forever?

WoW Forever DB’s Enchanting page, updated 3 November 2026 for build 1.60.1.70790, records 68 new abilities out of 272. It also records 122 changed abilities, including 96 with reagent changes. Those changes are a reason to check that any crafting route you follow matches the live build.

Forever adds class-specific staves, off-hand orbs and relics. Whether these items bind on pickup and are restricted to enchanters is unconfirmed. Do not choose the profession on the assumption that either restriction is settled.

Enchanting at camp

  • Enchanted Lute, skill 20: provides armor, stats and resistances for those sitting nearby. Learn it from a trainer or the quest Camping 101: Enchanting.
  • Arcane Salvager, skill 140: makes disenchanting more efficient and requires Blueprint: Arcane Salvager.
  • Arcane Forge, skill 300: requires a Blueprint and is needed for some recipes.

Blueprint: Arcane Salvager drops from Shade of the Archmage in City of Dalaran, Charlga Razorflank in Razorfen Kraul, and Rath’mael in Ruins of Lordaeron. Treat the blueprint requirement as part of your plan for the Salvager, rather than assuming the skill threshold alone supplies it.

How to disenchant

Disenchant comes with learning Enchanting. The beta instructions place it in the Enchanting box of the Professions window, rather than the spellbook. That location is based on beta information, so keep its status in mind if you are looking for the control on the live build.

Before disenchanting an item, compare its vendor and auction value with the value of the materials. Not every green item is worth more as dust. Make that check before deciding what to keep for Enchanting and what to sell.

Materials by the item’s required level

NoteThis is a beta disenchanting table from Forever Mastery, accessed 5 November 2026. Its ranges use the item’s required level. They are not Enchanting skill ranges or a confirmed live recipe route.
  • Required level 1–10: Strange Dust or Lesser Magic Essence.
  • Required level 11–15: Strange Dust, Greater Magic Essence or Small Glimmering Shard.
  • Required level 16–20: Strange Dust, Lesser Astral Essence or Small Glimmering Shard.
  • Required level 21–25: Soul Dust, Greater Astral Essence or Large Glimmering Shard.
  • Required level 26–30: Soul Dust, Lesser Mystic Essence or Small Glowing Shard.
  • Required level 31–35: Vision Dust, Greater Mystic Essence or Large Glowing Shard.
  • Required level 36–40: Vision Dust, Lesser Nether Essence or Small Radiant Shard.
  • Required level 41–45: Dream Dust, Greater Nether Essence or Large Radiant Shard.
  • Required level 46–50: Dream Dust, Lesser Eternal Essence or Small Brilliant Shard.
  • Required level 51–60: Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essence or Large Brilliant Shard, with Nexus Crystal rare.

In the same beta table, green armor mostly produces dust, at about 75%, while green weapons mostly produce essence, also about 75%. Blue items always produce a shard. Purple items produce shards or Nexus Crystal. These are beta results, so use them as a reference with that limitation attached.

What to sell instead

Crafting wands to sell to a vendor is not the recommended gold plan: wand vendor prices were cut on 1 and 8 October. Keep that change in mind if you encounter advice built around making wands purely for their vendor return.

Is Enchanting worth it for early gold?

WoW Forever DB’s Professions for Gold at Launch list, dated 27 October 2026, forecasts Enchanting at D for launch and C once the market settles. These are early forecasts with no recorded Forever prices behind the list. Nobody had played past level 30 before launch on 4 November 2026, either.

Strange Dust has steady demand, but Enchanting depends on disenchanted gear and costs gold to start. That is the tradeoff behind the early rating. Choose it for the profession’s uses and your plans for it, rather than treating it as a proven quick return.

Pairing and Legacy perks

Tailoring pairs with Enchanting because it makes cloth gear you can disenchant. For a player who wants both crafts, that is the connection to consider. The value check still applies before turning any particular item into materials.

The Legacy perk Working Overtime gives a 20% skill-up chance increase at 5 ranks. Dedicated Study adds 1 to the lowest primary or secondary tradeskill. These are relevant perks to know about while planning your professions.

Why there is no recipe-by-recipe route here

Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert and Artisan ranks come from trainers. Exact leveling routes differ between sites, and Forever changed recipe reagents. Use a route updated for the live build instead of treating a conflicting recipe sequence as settled. The available routes also disagree on the final skill target.
